Just curious as to what ya all thought about the new M1400VA running less hotter due to ULV 1.1 Dothan compared to the older processor. I'm planning to switch from a band new Toshiba M200 1.6 Ghz Dothan. The viewing angle is driving me insane even with indoor lighting. There is one perfect spot to view the screen. I might as well become the hunchback of Notre dame hovering over this screen!
I will get a Motion 1400VA with the new processor in a few weeks but it is my first motion, first tablet etc.
i can only give an opinion on how warm I think it is and compare with a compaq notebook.
the criterium is do i feel it is ok, acceptable, bit warm, bit hot, or worse.
let you know by that time.
Maybe stupid question .... I'm reading all these remarks about the M1400 getting hot ... isn't it possible to turn down the max processor speed through software? ... I suppose it will get a lot less hot ... you wont have the speed but to be honest for most of the application you don't need the maximum speed ... maybe your battery life will be longer to ... right?

how would you do that, to turn the speed down ?
i try to keep learning and computers offer an enormous area to keep doing that. the room for improvement is unlimited. i am concerned that my processor speed internally is too low but i have to live with that, as does my wife, my kids and my friends
The new 733 chip has enhanced speedstep technology that is supposed to do a good job throttling CPU speed yet dissipating 5W at the ULW service level. The fact that M1400VA doesn't have an internal fan would likely make it warm up during excessive resource use. However on simple note taking on powerpoint or one note, there should be minimal CPU usage (the TIP would eat some, I'm guessing) but overall I'm guessing the M1400VA with the 733 should be less warmer than it's predecessors. I just wish someone could confirm this for me before I go out and buy one and return/sell my existing brand new M200 toshiba that is fully loaded.
