The MS power toy: Snipping tool is a head in the right direction. Probably not exactly what you want, but it may help.

I just received a HP tablet PC for use during presentations. In my presentations I use a variety of applications. What I would like to be able to do is to ink on top of whatever the screen is showing at any time. I don't need to turn the ink into text, and I don't need to save the ink in the showing file/application, but I would like to be able to switch between using the pen to ink on top of the application and using the pen as a pointer/cursor within the showing application.
Is there software that would allow me to do this?
thanks,
David

Sniping tool will take a chunk of the screen.. for the whole thing (that constantly updates what's going on too), check out M2Screen Annotator..

OneNote's screen clipping feature will clip what you are viewing, paste it into a note page (with links to source), and then you can ink on it at will.

M2 screen works well. it does 90% of what I want. The only drawback is that to return to the application I am working on I have to close m2screen and then all the ink disappears. Sometimes it would be nice to be able to keep the ink from m2screen on top while I work in the application. Is this too much to ask for? Anyway, thanks again for the reference, its great.
Try InkyBoard set to a high level of transparency. This program works wonderfully for a variety of uses similar to yours.

The only problem with InkyBoard and that type of application is the ink is set to the same transparency as the background of inkyboard (so you set inkyboard to 90% transparent you can barely see the ink).. it's too bad they can't be set seperate (i.e. set the background at 95% invisible and the ink at full visibility), then it might actually be more useful..

how dose all the screen cliping differm just using the print screen button and then pasting it into a inking program?
harry:
Two ways, both good: (1) Control over as much or as little of the screen as you want/need, and (2) the accompanying automatic link to the source.
M2 is cute! Thanks for the link.
