The first experiences being reported with the new Elecrovaya 2100 with array microphones is very positive. Refer to the the Electrovaya section. Dragon apparently works well on this tablet, using the built in array, and apparently the software included on this tablet is Intellisonic, made by Knowles. Isn't this the same as on the Motion? So why is Dragon reportedly working on the Scribbler, but problematic on the Motion?

Motion should continue to work on this issue so that those of us interested in speech, especially with Dragon, have a choice: either the Motion 1400 (advantage of a fanless computer) or the Scribbler (advantage of much longer battery life).

Anyone out there using the 1400 successfully for speech, using Dragon and using the built in arrays?

I have been using the built-in MS speech recognition on my M1400
    and the performance is acceptable.

I have tried each settings with the array microphone, narrow, wide and meeting and all seem to give about the same recognition.

Can someone explain these microphone settings and how I can use them to obtain better speech recognition.

Joe, I do not have a copy of dragon on my tablet so I cannot make any meaningful comparisons between MS and dragon.

I have used dragon/L&H in the past on a laptop and at that time it performed better than MS but my understanding now, correct me if I am wrong, is that MS has passed dragon in speech recognition performance.

I disagree. Microsoft works well for me, but my best accuracy is 95% using heavy dictation (30 daily notes, verbose writer). Dragon 7.3 Medical is still the leader, 99% accuracy. This is my personal experience.

    Fair enough.

Joe, any insights into the difference in array microphone, narrow, wide and meeting settings.
