I bought mine at Circuit city, M205-S809 open box for $1350.
I went to my local best buy to play with the m205 and noticed that they were selling it as an open box item for $2299.00. I asked a sales rep if he could negotiate the price. He went to get his manager who asked "Well how much of a price break were you looking for?" I replied "as much as possible...I have been doing my research and I know the cost I could get online. I also mentioned that the display item had some scratches on the screen and keyboard.
He said well you know this is the best tablet on the market and we have had this display model only since march 04...so I guess i will come down an extra.......$100.00....My response......thats to bad...my thought goto hell.

Good thing you didn't get it. Those display models can besubjected to quite a bit of "torture".
[:O] whoa...quote: I bought mine at Circuit city, M205-S809 open box for $1350.
not woah.. but smart.. i work at ccity.. we have an obox still of a m205.. for like 1549.99 base price.. and u can negotiate
I find that these "big box" retailers are totally clueless at properly displaying tablet pc's.... Locally there are four stores which have the m205 on display... Microcenter was the only one who had it displayed properly and had the stylus available to use. CompUSA was the worst...
the 205 is on display in "laptop" mode.... locked into place with the screen behind plexiglass, obviously their concern is more for preventing theft than showing off the machine...on top of this the stylus was sitting "loose" in its slot, they obviously didn't even know about it or it would have been locked away as well...
I think one of the main reason tablets have not taken off is that the places that they really shine (in the hands users), they are being sold by a group of people largely unaware of the capabilities and functions.
When I was first looking the salespeople at Best Buy, Microcenter and Circuit City all told me that the screen on the 205 only recognised one "level" of drawing pressure....Obviously this is not true
Anyway, sorry for my little rant....it just drives me crazy that such a "revolutionary" product is basically "gnored" by retail...
I think that is true. I spent 15 minutes watching the guy try to turn it on.quote:Originally posted by toydesign

Yup, I got an R100 for $1399 and M200 for 1799 (CDN $$$) from Future Shop - a division of Best Buy. They have no clue.
