    Hey guys,

After installing SP2, I noticed that the processor isn't auto-throttling itself now. The clock rate on the computer properties pane reports the processor going at full speed and the computer is getting hot to match (even while idle). I still have the same power settings with the toshiba power saver utility as before and auto-throttling hasn't been disabled anywhere as far as I've checked. I can clock down the cpu manually though.

Anyone have this happening to them too? I'd rather use Toshiba's deal over speedstep, but if it comes down to it, I guess I'll have to switch.

Mine works fine. Try reinstalling the Toshsiba utilities. I installed SP2 after a clean Winxp install and then I installed the Toshiba stuff afterwards.

How do you check if it's working or not?

Go to Start button then go to my computer right click it and choose properties then look at what the speed of the proccessor is. Do this once with power and full power and then disconnect the power supply and use the battery and check it again under my computer also make sure you choose long life under the power icon by the clock that way it should show 598Mhz

I have upgrade to SP2. I checked my PC 1 minute after removing power - 1.5Ghz. Two minutes later 598Mhz.

After plugging the power back in several minutes later the speed was still 598Mhz. A reboot set the speed back to 1.5.
