Default Jeff, thank you for your explanation about the h

Jeff, thank you for your explanation about the history of GoBinder development, and how the original metaphor was simply to leave page after page open. That did a lot to help me understand how GoBinder thinks, so that I can think along with it.

I must admit that I am one of the users who likes to put away the notes that I'm not using. (OK, you wouldn't know that from looking at my desk.)

One suggestion I have is to add another option on to the right-click window for the elements in the history bar. Let me give you the background first.

I usually have the tab directory on the left window and the various notes displayed in the right window. I find that I do a lot of wandering through various notes, and after a few minutes, I look up to find that the history bar is really chockablock full. When I finally find the note that I am looking for, I would like a way to be able to put all of the other notes away -- so that I could start a new thinking trail.

When I want to start afresh, focusing just one that note, and where the note might lead me from there, I have to either go back manually and close every other note by clicking on the history bar and then clicking close, or, alternatively, I have to close all the windows and then renavigate to the note where I really wanted to do my work. When I am working on a hot new idea, I really find that the repetitive drudgery of this gets in the way of my thinking. My problem is that all of my ideas seem to have very short lifespans:-(.

So what I'm asking for is this: an option in the right tab menu on the history bar to "put away everything except this note."

Of course, you may have some terrific shortcut for this that I just don't know about.

One last question, I do suspect that after a number of notes get opened up, they start to close themselves -- fall off of the history bar, as it were. Is there a limit to the number of items they can be kept open at once?

Thank you in advance -- I sure do enjoy GoBinder.

    Virtually yours, Julie

This is exactly what I have been wishing for as well! I often find an enormous number of notes open in the history toolbar and it is a little bit of ahassle to close all the ones I'm not using.

I use GoBinder so often now and love it! I think I can single-handedly attribute me getting my Eagle Scout badge this week to GoBinder. Without it, I'm so forgetful! Keep up the great work!

    How about this.

Currently we have a "Close All Windows" function on the "Windows" menu. What if it changed to be "Close All Windows Except the Current"?

Why would anyone ever close everything anyway?

There's currently no way to specify the limit. It's hard and fast at 10. Items fall off in least-recently used order, which may be a different order than how they appear ordered left to right.

I like the idea of either changing Close All or adding a new choice.

Also, you may have already noticed that opening items from the history bar is much faster than opening them when they aren't already there, so it's nice to keep frequently used pages there.

Patrick! Congratulations on your Eagle Scout designation! I am tickled to be in league with someone of such high accomplishment. You should be very proud.

And, I agree with you that GoBinder has tremendous potential in the area of linking thought and action. That is not such an easy thing to do, is it?

Ian & Jeff: I think the idea of substituting the button to "close everything except the present window" would solve the problem nicely. Good thinking. And, Jeff, thank you for clarifying the number of Windows that can be open at once and how they fall off the history bar. Now all start to thinking of ways that I can use that to my advantage[8D].

    Cheers, Julie

Thank you very much Ms. Julie! It's good to know that Eagle Scouts still get respect in a world where scouting is very much made fun of. I appreciate your comments greatly!

One thing GoBinder guys, I almost always use two page view when using GoBinder. A "Close All Windows Except Present" function world close one of the windows I am currently working in. Would it be possible to make sure that in two page view mode, both open windows remain open when using this feature? Otherwise, good idea!

Agreed. Often I close everything just to "clean up" then reopen what I was working on. Never really thought of a fix to that but it sound nice!
