Default Why is 2005 so slow to run, especially scrolling

Why is 2005 so slow to run, especially scrolling a page? It's a three second delay whenever I move the scroll bar down and there isn't even any other apps open. I even shut off norton to see if that was it.

Could it be something with my system of is it just it's a lot going on when i scroll?

Did you do a print capture recently? GoBinder may be indexing the data. To check, bring up your Task Manager (CTRL-ALT-DELETE) and look at the CPU usage for GoBinder.exe. If it is high even when you aren't using it (the disk will probably be going a lot too), it is probably indexing. If you wait for it to finish it should be much snappier. I haven't experienced slowness of that magnitude during indexing, but I suppose it is possible. What kind of PC are you on?

no, the last time I printed was was a couple days ago. I'm on an Acer 110. Could it be the AutoSave-like feature? I notice every couple minutes the writing bogs down and then works like normal after a few seconds. If so, is there a way to just have it "save" when exiting?

NOTE: it's only noticable with the scroll bar, but dragging the scroll bar to the top of a short-ish page just took 13seconds to load, and on average around 5 (plugged in = around 4 seconds). I just restarted to make sure it wasn't something bogging down the system, and I'll check the task manager real quick too. I don't think it's suppose to do this...

My CPU Usage jumps to 100% from 2% when I scroll. Is it meant to do this? I didn't know scrolling was such a daunting task...

A 110? I'm envious. We all here have the old 100s, which now seem pokey by comparison, and I've never seen delays like that on mine. Is this only an issue with one particular note? If so, can you describe it for me? Is it printed? Mostly text? Mostly ink? How much of each? Every time the note saves, the typed text and ink are reindexed, but it sounds like this is another problem altogether if the CPU only goes up when you scroll.

No, it's with all note pages I have open. The one particular one I have has a couple pages and maybe two windows worth of ink (writing a draft of a research paper in sections, so paragraphs of ink). I just installed SP2, and tried to drag the scroll bar and it just took 9 seconds to refresh to where it was scrolled to. It's not a continuous scroll, even though every other scroll bar I use is continuous. I love the ink on this program, leaps and bounds over onenote, it's just annoying having it soooo slow.

Ah! Ok, I was just trying to show off my GoBinder to a coworker, and it was sooooo slow! Oh my gosh! It's like it went unstable or something. Does it matter that I'm running the trial version? Is there something I can do to get it to run smoother? I've tried everything I can think of to try to speed up the handling including pluggin in the TPC, closing EVERYTHING, movin the database file location, running a virus scan, changing to laptop mode..

I was trying to move a body of ink down so I could insert a sentence and the drag was as slow as the scrolling, except much more unstable and choppy. I wanted to show my coworker the new UT skin I put on (Woo! Thanks for that tip, btw) so I switched to the calendar and it took a minute or so to just figure out what to do, like when a program is so overloaded you have to just let it think it's way through it. Is it possible I have a messed up version? Should I try to install it again? Is it possible SP2-RC2 / SP2 could have messed something up?

It looks like it's just my paper I'm working with that makes it so slow. Is there a limit to how many pages can be attatched to one file? My daily notes aren't slow, and a clean note isn't slow either. I have seven sections to my paper so I just gave each section it's own page since it's easier than adding white space between.

If that is too big of a file to handle quickly, what would be a better way of doing what i'm trying to do?

Are you using your own custom paper type? If so, is there a large bitmap in it? That may be the problem. Try copying all the notes to another paper type and see if it is faster. If it is, we need to look at your paper type.

There is no specific limit on the number of pages. However, for typed notes, the entire note is read in all at once when you view the note, so for example, if it is 100MB, it is going to take a while to read the data into memory, and it will probably use a lot of memory, but once it's loaded (assuming you HAVE that much memory available), it should be pretty fast. We have several test cases with 1000+ pages.
