    Default New X61T Owner!

Was just wondering what other users of this TPC recommend to make it as functional as possible?

Any essential software or hardware add-ons to tweak this fine machine?

I have the docking station and have ordered an extra charger, slipcase, and tablet stand off the Lenovo site.

    TIA

First things first before you add-on is the "strip down" where you take all the crapware off. Many folks have done a complete reinstall of the OS. And don't forget to make your backup disks.

    Well, John,

I decided to take your advice and reinstall the OS.

I inserted my Rescue and Recovery disk and started the process.

My brand new X61T purchased with Vista Ultimate is now a Windows XP Tablet. :(

What's that all about? How could they send me unmarked Rescue and Recovery disks for XP? :(

What do I do now??? This is my new "work" machine but there aint gonna be any work done on it today or tomorrow now.

Am I totally screwed? Please respond!!!

I have an x41t so this may or may not work.
Turn on the computer and press the blue button to get into the recover partition and restore form there. it might not work because Rescue and recovery disk was used in the install.

Thanks for the response... this won't work... the hidden partition was recreated by the rescue process.

I called Lenovo and have a Vista DVD coming.

Can someone tell me the exact steps to install only the OS and the apps I want from the Vista Ultimate Restore DVD?

    TIA

I do appreciate your input however, I still need someone to give me the steps as outlined in my previous posts.

If, as some have indicated, this is possible with the existing setup, I just need someone to tell me how to do it.

If this is NOT possible, I will consider checking out Vlite.

    Thanks...

The following posts might be of help

after securing the product key for your machine, start the installation process by restarting your machine, with the vista dvd in your attached optical drive & pressing the thinkvantage button on boot.
Press f12 to get to the boot options & then select your optical drive from the list.
you will be asked to press any key to boot the dvd, and the process is fairly straightforward & self explanatory after this point.
