Thread: I have a toshiba satellite pro m30 with a centri

Default I have a toshiba satellite pro m30 with a centri

I have a toshiba satellite pro m30 with a centrino @ 1500 mhz. At least this is what I was thinking.

But I have found these days that my centrino works @ 598 mhz all the time. From BIOS the CPU is set to 'Always High'.

Can anybody help me to find out what is wrong?

    Thank You

I haven't dealt with the m30 but this is how it works on the m200.

The centrino proc is designed to lower its clockspeed to conserve battery power. If you really want it to run at 1.5ghz all the time, go into your power settings profiles and there should be a section that allows you to set the processor speed. It is most likely set to a variable 3-8 right now. Take off the variability and just set it to 8. You will eat through your batteries quicker if you keep it in this mode so I would only suggest it while plugged into ac power. And here's hoping that the power utility is the same for your model as it is for mine (and that my memory served me well enough that most of that was right).

I know about that feature, but on my power settings screen I only have level 1 to 3. On another M30 which I was seen it was Level 1 to 8.
Also, in Toshiba HW Setup I dont see the CPU tab which I seen on the other M30.
The problem is that, even plugged in, the maximmum speed is 598 mhz.
I think that I need a tool to make it run on 1500 mhz, or some jumper settings.

The only thing that I tried to do was to update the BIOS from 1.40 which I have to 1.50, but nothing.

Interesting issue. Is this the original processor that shipped with the machine? If so toshiba tech support should be able to help.

Currently the M200's seem to have issues with the new Dothan processors. Your problem sounds like the problems one of the other users here hqad with such an upgrade. The speed step didn't work on the new processor.

COOL! Look, if you call toshiba regarding the problem, and then get them to fix it, you can tell us the solution. :)
