Default Hey there everyone, Just getting ready to ord

    Hey there everyone,

Just getting ready to order my TC1100 -- most likely the celeron ...so I can splurge on some cool Bluetooth headphones (http://www.bluetake.com/Products/BT420ex.htm).

Okay, so, I need some help. I've noticed that the Storix CD-RW/DVD was quite a steal at $80 in the past at tigerdirect since it was bootable. Murphy's law: now it's gone. I know this is an old topic, but can someone provide me with an out-of-the box bootable external CD-ROM that is less expensive than the multibay?

I'm getting the docking station, but I want to be able to carry around the CD drive with me during the day, and I don't want to pay for the external multibay casing. I don't mind if the drive is not CD-RW, as long as it plays DVDs and is bootable, great! If it just happens to be CD-RW, even better. Thanks for your help in advance.

    Adam,

    Just an aside...

In terms of investment / returns:
    1. You look at the screen all the time,
    2. You experience the processor all the time,
    3. You end up managing your battery life whenever away from AC.

    TC1100 Pentium M
    1. wider viewing angle (this means you will spend less time adjusting/tipping the Tablet PC to see it)
    2. although you won't notice the difference for light duty office tasks, for processor intensive tasks, you will have more "headroom" and better performance
    3. You should get better battery life with the Pentium M

At least in Canada, the warranty is 1 year for the Celeron and 3 years for the Pentium M.

I would go for the Pentium M model and defer the headphones until later, because you *can* get the headphones later. You can't get the improvements noted above if you forego them now.

same here. the extra 2 years warranty, 256ram, 10 gigs, better viewing angle and better chip+chipset make the price difference (roughly 300eur) seem a lot less.

    agree with that too.

hey on a less related note, are there any other BT headphones out there yet? the price will probably come down in a while... i hope... i want a pair :D

Sigh...you're both probably....right. Haha. I'll think into it more. It all depends on what I sell this laptop I have right now for. It's still sealed in the box and BRAND new. Sony S150 if anyone's interested.

We'll see how it turns out.

    Thanks for your help,

I'm thinking seriously about purchasing a TC1100 too, and had a quick question.

If I buy a TC1100 on E-bay, are the warranties on the units still valid, and are they still global warranties? What about accident protection? Is there any way to check with the manufacturer if a unit is under warranty?

    Thanks!
