    Hi all,

Did anyone have experience getting an factory recertified M200? I saw one that comes with 6-month warranties.

As long as the machine can last about 2-3 years, i am happy.

    Thanks!

Take my opinion for whats it worth, but...

My opinion with refurbished items is to use the discount that you get to buy the warranty extension that will give you the full three year warranty with accidentical damage protection, etc.

They were returned for a reason and who knows how well they were "Recertified" or "Refurbished". Instead of getting an overall price break you will just get a much better warranty on an otherwise
    "like-new" item.

i'm actually quite interested too, beacuse i'm thinking of getting a "recertified" tablet too! i'm quite scared, but you do save a few hundred.... trying to weigh the pros and cons about it lol.

but from what i hear, it's quite worth buying a recertified. from what the vendor told me, it's like 99.9% new. haha but yah i'm interested to see what others think.

I agree with the "take the discount to buy the warranty" line of thought.

Used items usually sell for 10-30% less and you can buy a warranty. If the manufacturer is willing to cover the unit as if it was a new one, I see no difference.

I just bought an air conditioner today for 40% off. I used the discount and rolled in a warranty which covers the thing as if it was new! New or used, if I can get it fixed under warranty, it makes no difference to me.

    go to www.techbargains.com
on the left handside you can search "toshiba m200" for "low price".

    ebay sometimes have recertified too.
    CAUTION: becareful with ebay.
NEVER BUY FROM A USER THAT DOESN'T ACCEPT PAYPAL. unless it has >1000 ratings and you find positive feedback for the expensive(more expensive than M200) items it sold recently.

eBay has LOTS of scam of M200. They are usually:
    1) doesn't accept paypal
    2) 0 rating.
    3) newly opened account and only bought some very cheap stuff to boost up their raiting.
    4) NEVER make trasactions with individiual sellers off eBay. I met a couple who faked a "eBay trust board" and made fake ebay email and websites to make them look real.

    Good advice.

Sickening couple. I wonder how trustworthy they are around each other.

    howdy all,

I just ordered my m200 yesterday from a very friendly toshiba sales rep (Darrel Flunker 877-586-8584 ext. 7054).

I asked about refurbished toshibas and he said he had a used one and it only comes with a 90 day warrenty... I guess I'll do a quick comparison:

    REFURBISHED:
    M200
    1.5 GHz Banias
    512 RAM
    40GB 5400rpm
    802.11b
    90 day warranty
    [$1750.00]
    +
3-year extended warranty (no accidental available)
    [$261.00]
    = $2011.00

    NEW
    1.6GHz Dothan
    256 RAM
    40Gb 5400rpm
    802.11g
    3 year warranty
    [$1949.00]
    +
upgraded warranty and 3 years accidental [$99.00]
    = $2048.00

OK, so I figured that I HAVE to have have a good warranty and accidental was a bonus, because I plan on owning this baby for a good three years. I guess you could go with out the three year warranty on the refurbished model...

Or you could take your chances on Ebay, except all the auctions seem to be selling very darn close to retail. Anyways, there's my 2-cents...
