Default Pointing stick not recognized (m1300)

I am having a world of trouble getting the pointing stick (track stick, nipple mouse, whatever you call it) on my motion computing m1300 to work properly. I recently replaced the hard drive and put a new install of xp tablet edition on, the thing worked perfectly before.

The tablet itself is the slate style, with a detachable usb keyboard. I am typing on it right now, so the keyboard functions properly. The problem is that the pointing stick refuses to do anything on this computer. I have to use the stylus to initiate any mouse clicks, and it's really inconvenient.

The wierd thing is that I can plug the usb keyboard into another windows xp machine, and the pointer works fine. I have tested it on 3 other computers so far. I just cannot get the pointer to work on the machine it was made for.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Did you install all the latest drivers from the Motion site?

Did you check Device Manager to see if anything looked funky in there?

Plug in the keyboard and find it listed in Device Manager. Uninstall the driver. Replugin the keyboard and let Windows "find new hardware" and install drivers fully before trying using again.
