I was wondering why the C303 has a d partition and what the Acer files in it may be used for.
Thank you for your help.

The D:\ partition contains images certain recovery files. With certain programs, you will be able to see an entire ghost partition hidden on the hard drive. If you need the space, you can delete the files; they are not completely necessary. If it doesn't bother you, then leave it is.
Experienced Windows users may prefer to put files on the D:\ partition. I usually only put the Windows OS on C:\, and everything else on D:\ and E:\--that way if I have a crash, I can wipe C:\ and keep all my data safe on the other partitions.
Always good to put real important data on a separate hard drive, or partition if you lack the ability. That way OS malfunctions don't eat you alive. Only problem with Tab OS is that these stupid recovery disks wipe your partitions for you too. Only solution is to make the bootable Tablet OS disk. Not the easiest thing to do, but it works.
Good point. I made my own bootable XP Tablet CDs so that I would not have to rely on the recovery CDs. That should be the first tip for any tablet user--make your own XP Tablet OS CDs.
Is there anywhere that has a tutorial of how to do that? I'm not so up to speed on the know how when it comes to backups and partitions and boot disks...^_^

Lucky you. There is a thread right below this one that discusses one way to make your own XP Tablet CD. Check out

Or, you can try http://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/forum/to...?TOPIC_ID=7454.
I'll use that as an example to show how little i know about this stuff. I couldn't even figure out that was what that title meant ^_^
I'll get it all figured out one day...
(this is coming from someone who has had to load her PC three times due to crashes, too, lol)

Thank you for your answers. I don't understand though why some recovery files are kept in d partition. Aren't they available on the recovery CDs provided by Acer?
I read the two posts about how to create a bootable Tablet PC CD. Which of the two posts is better for a newbie like me? I don't understand what files I have to download from the internet.Just the files pointed to by the two links?
What is an iso file?
Everyone in the first post is asking for a site to download an ISO file. Sorry about my naive questions. I just want to learn from you guys. Thank your very much.
Jordi
ISO file is an image file for the CD. You only have to download the programs that are linked. If someone out there is nice enough, you might be able to download the full ISO file and burn it without having to do it the hard way, but its really not incredibly complicated. Just print out the instructions, or have that page open. (I don't have the bandwidth to load the ISO file, sorry).
I have a C110 tablet which does not come with the special firewire cd combo drive. The recovery image in D drive is very important. When the OS is crashed, you simply boot up your tablet and choose d2d recovery from the bios. The program in the hidden E drive will load the image in D drive and let you have clean OS in C drive. No change will be on D drive as such you can keep all your data safe.
Therefore, I recommned not to delete the image or at least make a backup of the image.
Recently, I accidentally deleted the image from D drive. Now I cannot recover the OS from harddisk. Since I do not have gthe specifal IEEE combo drive I cannot recover from the bundled recovery disk. The acer service center charges me $20 for recovering the OS for me even my tablet is within warrenty. However, they do not recover the image to D rive.
I tried to view the content of the recover CD using powerquest drive image and I discovered that the images are password protected. It seems that the three recovery CD contain images for all langauges and the data file in the first disk contains instruction to get the appropraite language.
Anyone can verify this point?
Does anyone have solution to boot the recovery disk without using the special IEEE CD rom rom acer?
