After 2 years with my GW CX200X I am thinking of dumping the machine. It works great, and if you sparingly use the tablet feature you have a very functional notebook. But I took a chance and bought this machine for the tablet feature. I wanted the machine to use along with an animation software I use ...Toonboom!! Well I have had problems with GW and running this software ..and Toonboom has washed its hands of helping me, citing their software was built on Wacom's technology!

So I called GW today and was informed they no longer use finepoint and are back to Wacom. Is this true?

I have to ask because I remember when these people didn't even know what finepoint is! And it now seems they work off commissions ..since they guy wanted me to call him back specifically if I decide to buy.

Here is the confusion ...they have the C140Xl that meets all my requirements at $1K. And I remember GW went to finepoint to save cost and sell at lower than the competition (which was why I bought it).

This time around I am determined to first ensure its exaclty what I want, then concern myself with price. The last time I actually took my software on a CD, installed it on a floor model GW in Bestbuy and played around with it, uninstalled it and then order the machine over the phone. The fact is my test wasn't thorugh enough and after actually getting the machine found where the software didn't behave accordingly!

This time does GW really have Wacom with no strings attached to the technology? Can I be confident as far as the Wacom technology is concerned ...the GW will be the same as a Toshiba, Lenovo etc?

And as a side issue ...now that GW dumped finepoint ..how are they selling the machine so cheaply? It just makes me suspicious.

Finally GW informed that I could resell my existing machine to them ..I expect to get reamed ...but hopefully not too badly. Has anybody done this? Personally I have no patience to try ebay.
