I have two little issues with windows right now. One, the file and folder names have dissappeed from my thumbnail veiw in explorer. Second, when I try to right click on my CD/RW drive in My Computer, my tablet freezes. Any Ideas?

I have had the same problem with the disppearing labels in explorer for a month now. I still haven't found a solution.

Anyone figured anything out? The missing file names is really annoying

Have you tried going to Tools\Folder Options\View, then make sure the three references to "Hidden and Hide" of files is correctly selected or unchecked. Then apply with OK.

Set the Views toolbar button to Thumbnails. Go back to same Tools as above and click on "Apply to all folders". I don't know if this will fix exactly what you're experiencing, but take a look to see if it helps.

I tried both of those suggestions with out any luck. Any other ideas?

Ok, It's doing more weird things. This evening, I clicked on My computer and the view changed. I liked how it had my documents on top, then my hard drive, and then all my removable drives on the bottom. It has magically changed to the normal thumbnail view. I really don't like it. I want my old My computer back :-(

About the icons: This sounds like something that could be fixed with TweakUI a Windows XP PowerToy. When you run it, look for "Repair". There is an option "Rebuild Icons".





About the freezing problem: is there any chance that you any network drives mapped, that are not connected?
