Default Hey, I am a student going into Engineering, and

Hey, I am a student going into Engineering, and I am very interested in the M200, but there is a problem. My school wants us to get a laptop with a 14" screen or bigger, so that multitasking and windowing will be easier for us. I really like the features on the M200, and I was wondering if you folks think the screen is big enough to have multiple windows open and working, and alt-tabbing in between programs is easy on this. I've got to run simulations and stuff, that's why I'm a bit worried about this. Sorry if this has already been asked.

That depends on how good you vision is....

The screen resolution aka logical screen size is the very same as on "Big Screen" machine 1400x1050 Pixel - but on smaller display area. So each pixel is smaller. I you have no trouble reading fine print, than you don't have a disadvantage.

I am doing Software Development wis Vs.Net, Running Virtual PC's with Server in them as on any other bigger machine. But be sure to invest in RAM -
    I love my 1.5 Gigs...

This is a big personal preference issue. For what I do, which includes a lot of multiple windows open at once, the screen size is more than sufficient. I'm sure others will agree and disagree.

I got the M200 because it supports dual monitors. I am a 3d animator and have to keep several windows open to work efficiently . So I put my extra windows on the CRT and keep the main app window on the LCD. If a CRT is not an option for you, there is an "extended desktop" utility that comes with the M200. You could use it to give yourself some extra desktop space. The caveat is the "extended desktop" window takes up some of your desktop real estate when open.Symbol Commander provides a quick method for minimizing and maximizing windows. That reduces the inconvenience.

multitasking and windowing is probably even easier with the M200 as with regular laptops. Most laptops come with a 1024*768 resolution where the M200 comes with an unuasual super high resolution (for a 12'' laptop). This is the thing I like most about the M200 that it has this great resolution that allows me to have lots of screens open next to eachother.
I think requiring a 14'' monitor is a strange requirement, it would make more sense to require a certain resolution.

I agree with the other posts here. I do a lot of web development with Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Photoshop - all screen-hungry apps and the M200's screen is excellent. At the office I run a dual monitor setup with an 18" LCD as my primary workspace and the M200 keeps Outlook constantly accessible. Works great.
