Comparing Tablet PCs - Spy vs. Spy
All,
I've been thinking about getting a Tablet PC and had almost convinced myself to get an Acer C302XMi after having had a play with one on Tottenham Court Road in London.
Then I found Tabletpcbuzz.com (which is an excellent site) and saw some posts about the Acer C303XMi... The main differences seem to be the use of the Intel Dothan centrino CPU at 1.7GHz with 2MB cache, but I've not been able to find anything out about a suspected release date or anything...
Does anyone have any info? Would I gain much by waiting (I was going to get 1GB of RAM with the 302XMi anyway)? Any advice appreciated!! What do those of you with 302XMI's think of them - some websites have given them a real slating...
Thanks in advance guys,
Rob

I cant remember the links, but I think one was PC Mag, they compared it to the Toshiba & Fujitsu Siemens offering and concluded by saying Acer's C302XMi was a mixed offering at best, probably suited to a niche market....
Google search for Acer C302XMI review should get there in a couple of clicks.

I really like my Acer C302xmi. The only problem is that is has some reliability issues. Mine is going to the manufacturer for repairs on the digitizer. If you look through this forum, you will see that others have problems with the digitizer or the wireless. But, if you look through the forums, the Acer does not seem to be worse than the other tablets. Tablet PCs are new and the manufacturers are (hopefully) just learning how to fix the bugs. That being said, I would not go for the latest model if the tablet PC will be your only computer. If you have a backup, then wait for the C303. If you get the C303, please post to the forum so that those of us with C302s can kick ourselves in the head for not waiting.
Hey robnelson im too thinking of geting a tablet and will do but i think ill wait cos today i phoned Easy Computers, an Acer outlet and they will be, in 1 month carrying the C303 series :D Hope this helps the URL is https://www.acernotebooks.co.uk/acer...sp/default.asp
So keep an eye out for it being available!!

It's available at a few plaes I believe (PCMall could be one of them?)..
But I prefer my products used or refurb (pay way less than new..), but some people will only take new ones (I find anything refurb will have all the problems worked out and the latest upgrades, etc. rather than a new one being a crapshoot).
Still I just don't think the 303 is worth an extra $1000-1500 over the 302 for .1 ghz more and 20gb HD space more (all the rest of the specs are the same, 1gb ram, bluetooth, 802.11g, 14.1"screen, etc.)... of course I guess you could say the same about the 301 vs. 302.
