Greetings, I suppose I should have checked this issue out before ordering a tablet for work/personal use.
I work at a university with about 1600 computers running on the network. I'm going to use the first tablet. All of the computers use either Windows 98, 2000, or XP. I don't know what kind of software the IT folks use to run the network.
Am I going to piss off my IT folks? They basically make sure that our computers are linked to the network; our computers get various updates every time we log on. Will they have the knowledge to deal with networking a tablet with Microsoft Windows Tablet Edition in this kind of envioronment? Is it that much different from a other OSs? Do I have to start baking mountains of brownies as offerings?

In reality, the IT folks should not have a problem with XP Tablet Edition. XP Tablet is a superset of XP Professional, and its Microsoft updates will be nearly identical to XP, 2000 and 98. The only difference will be that XP Tablet, obviously, requires additional drivers for the stylus (which users can download from Wacom) and the tablet service pack.

Having an XP Tablet Edition computer on the network should not present a problem to the IT folks. If you read through other posts, you will find that some ITers will offer resistance, but their fears are unfounded.
