In reality, the IT folks should not have a problem with XP Tablet Edition. XP Tablet is a superset of XP Professional, and its Microsoft updates will be nearly identical to XP, 2000 and 98. The only difference will be that XP Tablet, obviously, requires additional drivers for the stylus (which users can download from Wacom) and the tablet service pack.
Having an XP Tablet Edition computer on the network should not present a problem to the IT folks. If you read through other posts, you will find that some ITers will offer resistance, but their fears are unfounded.
