Default Greetings, Can you put new sticks in both slots

    Greetings,
Can you put new sticks in both slots A and B of the 1400? I guess I'm just wondering what "base" memory means.
    Thanks

    Gary,

Sure, you can replace the sticks that Motion shipped with newer, larger ones - as long as it is compatible speed. I think "base" just refers to what was shipped with the machine originally. The assumption is you wouldn't throw away the "base" memory but would add to it. If you want/need to replace both SODIMMs, just remove the "base" memory.

You can replace either (or both) SODIMMs with new memory of any size (256 - 1Gb) as long as the speed is 333. Also, the memory is slotted so you can't put it in the wrong way.

And John might even buy your old 256 stick off you. You still doing that John?

Thanks for the help. Oddly enough it seems cheaper to buy two 512s from Crucial than to have the Motion shipped with one 512 with the intention of buying another from Crucial.
John, I was looking at the RAM configuration in the user guide and it seems the Motion does not support a 256 and a 512 for a total of 758 (though I could very well be wrong). Have you tried this configuration?
    Thanks again,
    gary
