I can't seem to find anywhere that is currently selling the m200 in the uk (never mind having stock!).

Is this because of the new Dothan processor model - if so when is that released?

Actually - I just gave Toshiba a call direct. They will have the 1.6 Dothan in stock on Friday 28 May and will do next business day delivery. Price is £1299 for 1.6GHz / 12.1TFT/ 60GB/ 256 MB/ 802.11bg/ Btooth/ OneNote. Additional 512MB is £209. They said the m200 model is not discontinued, this is just an updated version.

That is indeed interesting information as Intel has never indicated they would release a 1.6 GHz Dothan. Are you sure he wasn’t referencing the 1.7 Dothan? Supposedly 1.7, 1.8, and 2.0 are the currently released Dothan clock speeds.

If it is a 1.6 processor, I suspect it is an updated Banias model rather than Dothan. It isn’t surprising that the sales people are confused by this.

The salesperson possibly got confused I think - I just called again to confirm these details. The model coming out on Friday just has revised wireless spec apparently (802.11bg) and that's it. He confirmed that it will not have the Dothan processor in it, and went on to say that the Dothan version is not expected until 3rd Quarter this year, which seams an awfully long time.

Still it seems pretty strange that none of the suppliers I've tried in the uk aren't even listing the M200 currently - I've tried dabs.com, www.microwarehouse.co.uk, and that the toshiba site does not list any retail or online stores for the product http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.c...aShop=reseller

This Version [1,6 GHz, 802.11b/g] is the current 'new' version here in Europe, out for about three weeks by now (and now appearantly shipping). I ordered one of those yesterday (after eventually getting my money back from another dealer after nearly 5 months without any delivery).

Perhaps an interesting detail on general Dothan availabilty: Dell allready 'sells' them through their german website as a collegue of mine reported (he ordered a non-Tablet high screen resolution 1,7 GHz Dothan Notebook last week): Dell contacted him after his order via e-mail telling him that Dothan is not shipping yet ... and offered him a 50 Euro discount for the hassle of not getting a Dothan but a Banias one.

I'd conclude that Dell is advertising stuff they do not have yet ... make believe they are the first to have ... but actually not shipping but only giving discounts on the old stuff. :)
