That's precisely what I did. I declined the Best Buy "equivalent" (for $300+ as I remember) for the Toshiba $199 deal.
hi again..
I was wondering if i could get toshiba's 3 year extened warentee(the one that covers accidental damage) if i buy elsewhere? best buy and circut city have $150 rebates in addition to toshiba's $100 rebate that i would like to take advantage of while still getting the better covarage toshiba offers for $199... anyone know anything about this??
thanks

I believe you have 30 days after purchase to get one from Toshiba.
The M200 when purchased from Toshiba comes standard with a 3 year warranty. You have 30 days after the purchase to purchase a System Guard warranty for accidential damage. This is the only warranty that will cover accidential screen breakage.
If bought from a reseller, then it's one year. I don't know if System Guard is available when purchased from a reseller (I bought from Toshiba).
Not a problem. From Toshiba's warranty sales page:quote:Originally posted by The Chief Nerd

Nice!

Are you sure its only 1 year from resellers? I thought mine on New Egg which said 3 year standard warranty.

Rahul,
If you are getting an M200 not M205, you might actually be getting the 3 year warranty. Toshiba bundled an optical drive and shorter warranty on the M205.
Read the fine print, and if you find that reference to a 3 year standard warranty, save the file, print a copy, save and date a pdf version if you can, just in case you need to prove the conditions under which you purchased.
thanks WN - the Chief's comment had me scared for a moment. But no, I am fine, the machine comes with a 3 year standard. The M200/205 distinction is key.
