    Default Recognizing Shapes?

    Hi,

I am very new to developing for the Tablet PC. My question is this:

Can I develop a program which recognizes shapes that are drawn, such as squares, circles, triangles, etc. and then "smoothes" the shapes once they are recognized? Does something like this already exist?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Rob

    Something like this does exist.

You could look at Corel Grafigo.

There is also a way to do it in Windows Journal.

Draw something like this, then use the lasso tool to select it.

    Selected irregular line BEFORE

Select Actions | Change Shape to | Line

    irregular line AFTER

    This sounds like riteShape

I've never used it, but I use ritePen by the same people, which I love.

    Thanks for the info.

So, I am looking to incorporate this functionality in an application that I am writing. Do you know if there is a way that I can do this sort of "automatically". So, the user draws a circle, the circle is recognized as a circle, and then this circle is redrawn as a smooth, perfect circle approximately the same size.

The riteShape website mentioned that they have an SDK. That may do what you need.

    riteShape SDK content
riteShape engine - Win32 DLL and Win32 lib
    SDK header file
    Database of geometric shapes
    Demo application
    Console application
    Manual with API specification

    Specifications
riteShape technology is implemented in C++
Current version of the riteShape engine is built for Windows 98/2000/NT. Inquire by email info@penandinternet.com about ports to other platforms
Engine size (object code) is 180K

    Licensing
Pen&Internet offers a 6-month and a 12-month evaluation license or a commercial license of riteShape SDK. Inquire info@penandinternet.com about evaluation and commercial licensing terms.

    Hi,

    Did you solve this problem?
I am investigating this as an alternative to using Graphics.DrawShape on a Tablet PC application.

    Thanks,
    Janine

The company which used to do SketchRight is offering the technology for licensing.

http://www.saltire.com was the URL I believe.
