Hi all, After a bad uninstall, I cannot load

Hi all,

After a bad uninstall, I cannot load Windows. Before I restore my main partition with my Acronis backup file, I want to make a last attempt to restore those important files I cannot have access too, on my hardisk.
I do not remember if the Compaq Restore CDs have an option to restore Windows XP only or do they automatically wipe the entire drive (partitions and all).
Help please.
