I do some degraded clarity when using the dock versus a direct connection. Nothing serious, and I would only notice it if I was looking for it.

Tech support told me that "Yes, going through the docking station can degrade the signal more than going straight from thethe Tablet. He said that in the future the engineers maybe would have a better docking station.

It is nice to know the fix for the fuzzy monitor is NOT to use the docking station. I am glad I dropped the all that cash on it to find it has a poor VGA adapter. Overall I am pleased with the 1400 but that was not the answer I wanted to hear for Tech Support.

Try Ultramon (linked above). I had the same issue when I first hooked up but using Ultramon and setting the external (17") monitor to 1280X1024 seems to have helped. (Then again maybe I just adjusted to the fuzziness!) There are a number of other nice features in Ultramon as well. You can try it free for a month. By the way, if you leave your tablet at its native resolution and set the external monitor as above they won't be matched in size unless you turn the tablet to portrait in the docking station. I usually don't do this but if you don't expect it you can wonder where your cursor went as you move from external to tablet.

All right. I'm sold. I'll try it out and see if it works. I appreciate the tip.

UltraMon is a must if you want to make good use out of the dock.
If I set my 17" Monitor to 1280X1024, things are way too small. Other sizes are goofy to the monitor shape

Uh, never mind what I said about a blurry external monitor. turns out it was just a bad monitor cable. (Sorry.)

for what it's worth, I have been having the same problem with an electrovaya dock--running a samsung 213T 21" monitor at 1600 x 1200; big difference between slate VGA and Dock VGA. EV have a video driver update ( from Intel) which gave some improvement but still sub optimal.

perils of being an early adoptor, I guess: I am really trying to work to make a Tablet a working system here but guys, (EV, I mean) work with me here!

    cheers

Are you satisfied with the 213T? Any complaints / compliments? I have seen it for $1,100 at Sam's and getting tempted.
