I just bought an M205 last night. I played with it at home and saw two disconnected network icons, one for the wireless & one for the ethernet. No problem.

Today I had the tablet open at work, and still had both disconnected icons. This is fine, since I'm not connected to any networks. I put the machine in hibernate, and head over to starbucks at lunch time to test the wireless. I sit down, open up the machine, and it comes out of hibernate. my stylus doesn't work, and I figure I had a mouse plugged in at the office when i went into hibernate and don't have one now. So I turn the machine off, then back on.

Machine comes up fine, but there is no wireless! There is no mention of anything wireless in Network Connections, There is only one network adapter listed in Device Manager (Intel Pro/100 VE). I do a scan for hardware changes and nothing.

Can anyone tell me where my wireless adapter went? More importantly, can anyone tell me how to get it back? And yes, I'm *positive* there's an integrated Intel 2200.

    Thanks!

    ndewitt,

The following may have nothing whatever to do with your problem, but if not it's an interesting coincidence that Toshiba appears to be planning to replace the Intel Pro wireless network adaptor with an Atheros adaptor. At least, this is what is suggested by their recent FCC filing:

    https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/cf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout =500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=130633&fcc_i d='CJ6UPA3373WL'

At the risk of asking the dumb questions:
    1) Did the wireless power switch get turned off on the side of your Toshiba?
    2) Any chance that the wireless min-PCI card came loose in its slot?

I have found that the wireless will NOT reconnect all the time from standby OR hibernation, if you are using the stock Windows XP wireless control-panel. I find I often have to open the system tray icon for wireless and scan for wireless networks, sometimes several times, before it will come back.

I would not expect the card to have disappeared from the hardware manager unless:
    1) The driver is totally hosed
    2) The card has slipped from its mini-PCI slot
    3) The card has failed.

    Sorry it's giving you trouble!

Since your machine is relatively new have you tried a system restore? This may or may not correct the issue.
