Default I took an impromptu visit to PC World at the wee

I took an impromptu visit to PC World at the weekend as my brother fried the motherboard on his pc and needed some advice. While I was there I went to look at the mice as I needed a small portable mouse for my TC1100... I'm going to a (retro) LAN party at the weekend and UT and CS are hard to play with the button on the keyboard. Browsing through the shelves I found 3 wireless mice that use a USB "dongle" to connect. Packard Bell, Logitech and Belkin.

The PB was too big, so I discounted it immediately. It was between the Belkin, which was tiny and the Logitech, which came with a travel pouch. I ended up taking the Logitech as I wasn't sure whether the Belkin would be comfortable too use at it was so small. Also the pouch with the Logitech is a great way to store it when I sling it in my backpack.

All the mice had on/off buttons to switch them off when not in use. They were all the same price £39.99. The Logitech came with batteries and a USB port replicator that you don't need to use. It worked immediately without needing to install the software that comes with it.

If I get time I'll take a picture and load it up here.

I use a Kensington wireless mouse with my Apple Powerbook because of their confounded single button configuration. The Kensington mouse actually has a garage built into the side of the mouse to place the USB dongle when storing the mouse. This way all parts are together when stored and when the dongle is parked in its cubby, it shuts off the mouse so no battery drain. Medium sized mouse as well. I have been very pleased with the Kensington model after disappointments with Targus and Logitech models. The Targus was too small and didn't shut off by any external switch, so major battery drain. The logitech mouse was buggy and would frequently disconnect.

I second the adrobinson's opinions on the Kensington wireless/optical mouse. I've found no better choice for traveling.

I don't know what Tablet PC you have, but if you have a TC1100 or the Toshiba M200, or one with bluetooth, you could get a bluetooth mouse. Then you wouldn't need a dongle.

I have had major problems with wireless mice... I think it is interference from the digitizer. I ended up going back to a small corded model.

I use a Targus wireless mouse. The size is perfect for me and I chose it becuase the batteries were rechargable and it came with a docking station to recharge the mouse.

I use a labtech mouse. It's not too big, not too small. The dongly bit fits in side the mouse when not being used, and when you fold it into the mouse, it turns off. Cool, eh?

Hmm.. This is the only link I could find now.

I started with a Targus wireless optical mouse, but the batteries would run out quickly. I then moved to the Kensington mouse adrobinson described and loved it. The poor range was my only complaint, but it was a nice mouse. When I realized I wasn't using it enough, I sold it. Now, I have the Logitech wireless optical notebook mouse, which I got as a gift. The little pouch it comes with is great, and the switch to keep the battery from running down works well. IMHO, Logitech makes the best input peripherals around.
