I just got into Circuit City and tried an m205...

Overall, the machine was great and all the suggested bad things about it wern't a factor. The weight, 4.3 pounds I think it is, was nothing. You can still 'take notes standing up' if you want, it literally feels like 2 spiral notebooks. I mean, holding it against your arm and your upper body, the thing feels like paper. I don't see the argument for 'its too heavy' anymore.
Next is the 'viewing' on it. It's completely fine. Sure, there might be bad viewing at 150 degrees or whatever, but whenever I write on it, I always write between a 80-100 degree angle, usual right over the machine, and the glare and viewability are no problem. So there goes that arguement as well.
The screen resolution was great. And after messing around between tablet and notebook, I would be very leftout w/ out a keyboard. For me, personally, I would miss the keyboard very much if I didn't have it with me all the time.
What about the mic's, you might ask. Well, if it is that bad, it would be just as easy to get an external mic, (a small one) and plug it in to use. That prob. is fixed too.

Now, there are some things I didn't like about it. Only minor ones though.

First, the 'eraser' on the back of the pen, isn't as good as it sounds. It is much easier to click the eraser button and erase w/ the tip, instead of flipping the pen over erasing, and flipping it back over.
Second, the ink recog. was slightly laggy, but I just figured it was due to the default settings. I can see where the upgrade in RAM would come in really handy. Plus, make sure you 'optimize' your TPC via the thread on these forums. That should fix the lag problem with them. As well as SP2.

Overall, it's a great machine and the pricing is just right. I will probably pick one of these up if the M1400 doesn't impress me enough.

On Tuesday, I'll be going to try out a M1400 @ Motion HQ in Austin, so I'll see what they can offer me, and I'll post that in the Motion Forum.

Let us know your impressions of the M1400, and I agree with you completely that the M205 is an excellent tablet. Ram will go a long way to improving the response on any tablet you purchase, and make sure to consider purchase of a Cross penabled pen, as I think you will find it a more comfortable writing instrument.

Best of luck on your purchase, whichever unit you ultimately decide to buy.

    mtamble,

Glad you got a chance to see/feel/use the M200.

    Thanks for posting your impressions.

Informal purusal of the Toshiba forum leads to a singular conclusion: Most M200 users seem happy with their purchase.

Looking forward to your comments on the Motion.
