I guess when your journalistic rationale for assigning review critera is what came out this week that's buying ads, it's easy to list them all.
Sorry, feeling especially cynical tonight after a long day.

There goes the cherished crown.
The TC1100 dethroned.
If you put stock in the magazine reviews.
Bragging rights go the the "M" crowd.
But on this page:

The HP TC1100
and Motion M1400
and Toshiba M200
All are shown as Editors' choice.

Owning a tablet pc is really a matter of personal taste. Reading reviews helps clue me in to the feature sets available on newly-released models, but with few exceptions I take the reviews with a grain of salt. The TC1100 is an excellent machine. Perhaps the reviewer was wowed by the larger screen real estate. And I agree with Warren that at times it seems as if the writers tilt towards those manufacturers who happen to be advertising their wares that month, but this is not universally true.
Warner,
Cynical? You?
Well a touch of that must come from directing *all* those plays. That's gotta be some busy theatre.
I agree with you Andrew, that the reviews are a quick way to spot new features, but they can hardly be taken as gospel.
Have considered ordering an M1400 out of curiousity, but not out of some sense that it would be significantly better than the TC1100. It really would be just to have a look.
There really has to be a better way.
I feel like I've read that rewview before. PC Magazines reviews are pretty crappy, but the editor's choices all seem to be good picks.
Finally, something I agree w/ in PCMag.
WN, there is a better way for all but the bravest early adopters, to wit:quote:Originally posted by WNewquay

(1) Some of us will purchase the newest tablets available sight-unseen to satisfy our gadget cravings and addictions.
(2) We will test our new tablets every feature ad nauseum.
(3) Results/rants/raves are then posted here for inquiring yet tentative members of the Buzz.
(4) Mass purchases or "sluggish" sales then follow for the manufacturer.
IMHO, I have found the information, both good and bad, posted here at the Buzz far more valuable than any review by journalist, whether clearly biased or honestly open-minded. While I have purchased many computers sight-unseen, after some research as to specifications, my most recent purchases have been better-informed, in part, because of this community.
