You can leave the KB attached all the time if you choose. It swivels nicely.
I was originally going to buy an Acer C111 but I think I might just get a TC1100 instead... however, the C111 is built like a laptop so I have the keyboard always with me and ready to be used. How does this work with the TC1100? Do I have to carry it separately, or can it stay connected while using the tablet alone?
Thanks,
Chen

So basically, it is just like normal convertibles (such as the Acer), except that you can also remove the keyboard? Any idea how much thickness it adds to the unit?
Many thanks,
Chen
Chen,
If you've seen pictures of the TC1100 or TC1000 you can get a better idea of how it functions.
The screen does not fold down INSIDE like a regular laptop or typical tablet convertable. On the TC series the screen is on the outside when folded down. When open the screen would be facing away from the keyboard but spins around to face the keyboard. This places the screen about 1/3 the way from the back rather than at the back like regular laptops. I personally find this better for balance etc... (Hope this explaination is clearer than mud)
As far as the thinckness added it adds about 50% more to the tablet's width. I don't have a ruler handy or I'd measure it.
About a quarter inch and about a pound of weight. I think you'll find the ability to detach the keyboard important.
Yes linny, I've seen pictures of the TC1100 but only open. But I saw that rotating plate and I understand how it can be closed now... very handy and exactly perfect. :-)
Thanks as always,
Chen
Chen,
Lots of pretty pictures here!

This should make it very very clear how very very clever the keyboard mechanism is.
Excellent, thank you! This looks very promising. But isn't the pen very thick? I must get a new one right after I buy it.

Classic. :-)
I am especially glad to see that the size of the keyboard almost doesn't change from my current Compaq laptop, and even better it is the exact same key layout. :-)
