Default I am new to this tablet pc thing. i am currently

I am new to this tablet pc thing. i am currently using a M200 and while I enjoy it's features I cannot convince myself that it is worth $3200. I would rather purchase a tablet for $750-$1250 and be happy with it. i am not expecting a superfast processor or a great video card...but for what I do with it I don't think I really need that much. I would rather get my feet wet with a cheap used model and wait to spend tons on a Dothan powered 3rd gen.

This is what I would like to do with one:
    1) Take notes in class. (pursuing another degree)
    2) Use Outlook with PlanPlus and TabletPlanner.
    3) Use Microsoft Office and BASIC graphics, i.e. CorelDraw.
    4) Surf the web wirelessly at home.
    5) LEARN ABOUT THE TABLET PC. :)
P.S. I am replacing a 1.3 Ghz Pentium M Dell Inspiron 600m with 1gig of ram. I am not expecting the same performance...just not incredibly lower.

I have only been at this for a week or so, therefore I don't really know what lowercost model I am searching for. I know what I need it to do and maybe one of you more experienced users can make a recommendation or sell me one. Email me if you like mykul@specificsystems.com

    I really appreciate your help.

Thank you all for your help, <><

    $ 3200
    ??? - in what currency - ??? $CDN maybe?

The closest thing to what you have in your hands now, (if you like the whole "convertible" thing, is the Toshiba 3500).

    Pentium III 1.33.

You will probably have to add a wireless card and maybe memory.

Same question about the budget. What currency?

US currency. I purchased it with every option I could get including 20Gb 7200rpm HD, 1.7ghz PM chip...and others.

I am interested in getting something cheap to hold me over till Dothan comes out.

    mykbol,

You must mean the 60 gig 7200 rpm HD I guess.

I think that just about all the current model Tablet PCs will meet all your requirements.

You'll probably lose some on selling that M200 (unless you already have a buyer lined up so you can recover your money).

Do a search on Dothan in the forums and see if you still think that it would be worthwhile to wait, and if the wait will turn out to have been worth it.
I know that this is circular reasoning, but your time is worth something, and it takes time to research alternatives, sell the existing unit, acquire the new unit, learn its idiosyncrasies and on and on...

You might just want to hang onto that beautiful M200.
