You can run the latest version of DirectX.
It should play, but you may need to turn the settings down quite a bit. I wouldn't expect it to be too smooth.
I'm just about to get a TC1100 (the Centrino Pentium -M 1.0GHz flavour) and I wondered if anyone here has tried running Eve Online on one? The idea of being able to sit in Starbucks or the Bagel Factory at lunch time and log in to the game rather appeals to me :-) I suppose the downside might be rather long lunch breaks...
From posts I've seen before, it appears the issue will be getting the right version of Direct X running. Does anyone know what version I can run on the TC1100?
Thanks all!

Dude, you can't mine Bistot during lunch! Those hauls take way longer than a lunch break = P
Thanks for that. I was expecting to turn all the settings down and it isn't a very resource demanding game... I was just worried that I wouldn't be able to run it at all.
Being able to log in during the day means that the planned SMS notification for in game events will actually be useful!
Well, that settles it... I'm ordering today from Laptopsinc.com. They deliver to the UK saving me £300 off the UK price even after tax and delivery :-)
Be sure to post how it runs. I was a member of the EVE Online beta, but I got my TabletPC after the beta was up and couldn't test the game on it and wasn't sure if I should buy it or not without knowing.
Sure.. will do. I should get it sometime next week... hopefully :-).
Eve has changed a lot since the beta... although I've only been playing for a couple of months. I'll be happy to register you for Eve's buddy program trial that will let you download and try it for 3 days at no cost if you like.
[edit: nm]
If you participated in the beta but haven't been on since, you've probably recently gotten an email from them about giving you a free trial to check out all the changes since then. Looks like there's life in that game yet!
Specwise, EVE beta should run fine on any tablet (including ones with the crappy intel extreme graphics)
Carnage,
I haven't played since the beta either... you like it so far and what's the biggest difference? How many people are in the Universe at any one time?
Yeah, I just got the email this afternoon! Awesome stuff.
Well, I didn't play the beta but I think the main change is the new tech level that was released. You can only get the BPs for new tech from research and they need different skills an equipment to build. It makes it harder to be a fighter/builder/miner/researcher.
Also the agent process has been completely revised. They've also added or activated scenarios which can be discovered... Oh and there are conquerable stations that can be owned by a corp now and are fought over in 0.0 space.
I do like the game a lot. It took my brother ages to convince me to try it, but now I'm hooked. It helped having him for advice and guidance... and isk :-) though. I enjoy it because there's so much to do and the devs spend a lot of time actively refining and improving it. The devs also communicate through the forums with the players which is unheard of in other MMORPGS where they tend to hide away.
Sunday night there were over 9000 players online and there are typically 7000 on during evenings and weekends... which is a huge amount... it's also cool that there's only one universe/shard for all players...
I've been playing for a couple of months now... I'm looking forward to the planned changes... but most of all I'm looking forward to playing on my TC1100 which I hope will arrive by the weekend!
