Oh I forgot, it would be nice to have a higher resolution...
Hello all, I'm in need of a new laptop for school. My last was a An Apple PowerBook G4. I am familiar with their offerings, and was wondering if maybe I could get more from going the PC route, namely a digitizer...
My requirements are as follows:
Processor: Intel (any listed below)
- Dual Core
- Core Duo
- Core 2 Duo
Processor speed should be at least 1.6 Ghz, more would be great.
1 gig of ram is the minimum.
The hard drive should be 80 gigs (for the programs I'm using... I'll store otherstuff elsewhere).
A good video card (this is important): 128 m of dedicated memory.
Wireless:
802.11b, 802.11g or 802.11n.
I would also like to know if it's the same as a desktop PC in regards to OS changes. I understand many of the tablets are shipping with Vista, although Vista is currently not recommended by my faculty for the applications we're using.
My main concerns are that I need to be able to use rendering, drafting and graphics programs.
The Sahara Tablets are really intriguing, does anyone have any helpful suggestions or ideas? Thanks for your time!

You should definitely get 2Gb RAM with whatever system you choose.
I'm definitely a slate guy but I wonder if you would be best served by a convertible? It seems like it would fit what you are doing and give you all the functionality you want. The Sahara is nice (and Apple-esque) but doesn't have the high-res screen you probably need. The Motion has the high-res screen and Core2Duo but only a 4200rpm hard drive.
Take a look at the Fujitsu T2010 or the Lenovo X61.
