    Need some help from the experts. Got my tablet yesterday. Used it all last nite to surf....FUN...

    Today, booted it up and the pen does not work. It does NOT even move the mouse pointer.

    Any advice or settings I am missing.

    I think you need to contact whoever you purchased from to have this fixed. Thad this problem when I got my M1300--l found that if l let the tablet sit for a while to heat up, the digitizer would start working. l assumed there was a bad connection inside that would only work when there was enough expansion due to heat. l Sent my tablet in for repair and it works great now.

    You might also check device manager to see if there are any reported conflicts that might interfere with the pen . If you have installed any software , especially any legacy software that might depend on older device settings , you might try removing it .

    If you have installed software or made significant configuration adjustments you might want to try rebuilding the machine to factory state from the recovery CDs .

    Out of the box failures on Motion equipment are rare as far as I can see in the forums , but they do happen . The suggestions above will help confirm whether or not your machine should be sent in , and the information they might provide will be invaluable to the support person when you eventually call in your problem .

    The above checks will only take an hour so and may eliminate the need to ship your computer in for service .

    Don't discount that the pen could be defective in some way. Most problems that I've seen come from device driver issues. After learning my lesson a couple of times, I've started to make good use of the Microsoft System Restore tool before loading new software or installing new hardware.

    Thanks for all the suggestions. Tried other pens, no good, looked for conflicts...nothing. On phone with Jeff at Motion now, tried removing all HID drivers, nothing...waiting on engineer to join us on phone. Will keep you posted.

    Look at the brightside...from these responses it sounds like this an typical problem...so &$#$ happens. Off she goes this afternoon, will keep you posted but sounds like just one of things that is out of anyones control.
