when running on ac power the screen is brighter than battery, is there a way to make the screen stay that bright when running on battery?

i have turned it up as high as possible (in every location i could find) but it still seems to jump in brightness when plugged in.

The thing that really sucks is that the screen stays much dimmer after it's turned off its screen a la power save mode.

Acer's known about this forever. It's one of the three reasons that I won't buy another Acer.
