Hello -
There was an 8 page post ending last May on a problem with connecting a mouse to the docking station with the TC1000. Is anyone having a problem with the TC1100? (Besides me) My problems seems to be different from the one they were having in that post.

The mouse will not be recognized by the TC1100 upon start-up or docking unless I unplug it and re-plug it in again. Then it works just fine. It turns out that my problem is intermittent. At first, I thought it was the mouse (IBM Scrollpoint) because it was never recognized. But the next day, after unplugging everything and reconnecting things (to move my desk around) the mouse started working upon docking without replugging it. That lasted for 1/2 a day. Now again, TC1100 will not recognize the mouse without re-plugging the mouse into the dock.

I have read here about problems with getting the TC to connect the dock properly. I thought that was my problem, but even if it is solidly connected, the mouse is not recognized most of the time without re-plugging. I should add that my usb CD drive, usb keyboard, usb iPaq cradle, and monitor all are recognized without problems every time I dock. I have reloaded the driver, and I have switched the usb connectors around so it is not just one connector, it seems to be the mouse. Why would this be intermittent?

Comments? Experience with this?

P.S. I appreciate all of you that post regularly. I have learned from you and avoided many problems! Thanks!

Tabletgirl,

Did I miss it?

The IBM Scrollpoint Mouse (from what I remember) has been a around for several years.

Have you tried a different mouse? (This wouldn't solve your problem, but would isolate it)

We just started ordering usb mice at my company. I don't have another one to try. I only identified the Scrollpoint so that you would know the type I was using (not an HP). I like the mouse - brand new, nice ergonomics with a great scroll button in the center. I just hate having to unplug and plug every time. Somewhat defeats the purpose of a docking station. However still not as bad as having to plug and unplug everything. Which is what I was doing until 3 days ago. At that time I was only using power, network, iPaq (no mouse, external keyboard or monitor). I was just wondering if more people have this problem or is it just me and MY mouse.

Whoops - I just got the "did I miss it?" reference. I didn't mean that the Scrollpoint was never recognized by people, I meant my TC1100 doesn't recognize it when I dock!

Tabletgirl,

"did I miss it" was "did you already try another mouse - and did I miss your reference to having tried that approach".

I have often admired that mouse (being an old ThinkPad user).

Still, a couple of things to try...

Does the problem go away if you uninstall the IBM Scrollpoint drivers?

Have you tried the latest release of the drivers

Try another mouse ... borrow someone else's for an afternoon. Could be a problem with the Scrollpoint mouse - and you'll probably not be able to isolate it until you try another one.

I had a similar issue with a Logitech track ball. After restart the track ball ceased to function until it was disconnected and reconnected. I had a PS/2 keyboard attached via a PS/2 to USB adapter with a PS/2 mouse connection still available. My solution was to connect the track ball to the open adapter connection and now I have no problems.

I tried the drivers that were on the CD, then tried the new drivers and it scared me since the mouse wouldn't even work after unplug/plug so I uninstalled the new and reinstalled from the CD. Maybe I will try again. I know one other person with a usb mouse. It's his minimouse for travel. Will see if I can borrow it. No extra port on the keyboard - phooey. Thanks for your replies.

I too have this problem, but with my zippy keyboard. The logitech mouse I have works fine.
