Hey all

Has anyone had an experience with IBM Mini PCI Wireless Lan A/B/G Card??

The Mfg Part # is 31P9701

The problem is -

1. I just purchased a IBM WLAN A/B/G for A and G support but this IBM card only works with certain notebook models that IBM makes. Of course I was not aware of that at all.

2. Does anyone know how to make thing work?? The driver is properly installed but Hardware indicates that it can't be started for service. It does NOT work at all. All the antennas are connected properly also.

3. I do NOT own an IBM notebook but want this to be working in my notebook. Does anyone know if there's any patches or util that will make thing work?? I think it's locked by IBM just to be used with certain IBM Notebooks.

I wish I didn't buy this... or at least wishing that the website stated that it will only work with IBM notebooks. Darn..

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

What kind of Tablet PC do you have.

At least equally likely is that the reason that the card is not working is that only "approved" cards will work with your brand of Tablet PC, and that it is the Tablet PC has the "approved" cards in its bios. (Not likely user-changeable).

The HP TC1100 has this "feature".

WNewquay,

Thanks for the input.

I have an Acer Travelmate C100 series but this is not for the tablet. It's for my notebook, Samsung X10.

Anyway it looks like the WLan card is going back. I've looked around but can't seem to find any solution for this.

BTW, do you (or does anyone) know any good tri-mode WLan Mini PCI card?? Not the IBM since it can't be used in my machine. I do use all 3 of a/b/g connections at work, school and home. Can you recommend any brand or shop to purchase from??

Thanks again

I would try the Dell Truemobile 1400. I upgraded my tablet with the Truemobile 1300 and it works better than the original. The 1300 is B/G only and the 1400 is A/B/G.

PStork,

Thanks for the input.

BTW, does Dell sell TrueMobile 1400 module?? I saw up to 1300 but never saw Dell selling 1400 without buying a laptop. Do they??

Hopefully I'm wrong. So do I just call Dell and buy one??

Also what is the dimension of the module?? I think my notebook just fits Intel 2100 module. So it's bigger than that, it might not fit at all.

Thanks all
