Anyone try the M200 with Photoshop or Painter? Does pressure sensitivity work?
Does Wacom have working drivers for the M200? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I make myself laugh. They still don't have properly working drivers for last years model.

It does not appear to be pressure sensitive in Photoshop

Hmm that's pretty bad considering photoshop is pretty much the main reason I want a tablet PC.
Any idea if ANY of them work in photoshop?

I think you need to install the Wacom pen driver in order to get pressure sensitivity in Photoshop...

Absolutely correct -
downloaded the pen driver and now pressure senitivity works in Photoshop no problem...

To Edwood & Others,
I recall the lengthy thread about 10 months ago regarding installing the Wacom drivers into the 3500 to get pressure sensitivity for Photoshop....but then that would mess up accuracy of the pen in other applications. I have to questions regarding this:
1. Is it possible to have installed on the 3500 both the riginal drivers that Toshiba has preistalled on the 3500 and the Wacom drivers at just have a some sort of icon one can click in order to toggle between the two (drivers)..rather than having to install one driver and un-install the other each time you want to use one of them?
2. If the "above" can be done, can someone simply explain how to do this?
3. I assume the Wacom drivers to allow Pressure sensitivity on the 3500 are on Wacom's Web site..is this correct and does anyone know the name of this specific driver?
Thanks for any info or help you can provide!

I do not know the name of the drivers, but one thing you can do within the Wacom drives is set it up SPECIFICALLY per program. So for default programs you could have it turned off (sensitivity) and then for JUST photoshop you could have the sensitivity in tact.
These options are accessable through the taskbar icon installed with the wacom drivers.
Don't have my tablet PC anymore so let me know if it works.

I refuse to install the wacom drivers, they mess with everything. With OneNote the eraser always gets stuck.. so I never use them.

This issue is just the same BS all over again. It's got nothing to do with the hardware OEMs but with Wacom and Microsoft. The Tablet PC hardware may improve all we want, but as long as Wacom keeps writing incredibly pathetic drivers, this problem will persist.
Obviously, the way Win XP:TPC Ed handles the active digitiser is quite different than the way the regular Wacom drivers handle other Wacom tablets. Microsoft for some reason decided to write it from scratch for WXP:TPCE. This is why programs like Photoshop and Painter does not recognise pressure sensitivity in all the Tablet PCs out of the box until you install that "special" Wacom driver Wacom has "developed" [rofl] specifically for Tablet PCs.
The problem come in two folds:
The first part is that because the WXP:TPCE is doing tablet operations differently, so software has to be written or re-written for use in Tablet PC, otherwise you don't have things like pressure sensitivity. So apps like the Alias Sketchbook work fine with both Tablet PCs and Wacom drivers while Photoshop and Painter does not. We just have to wait until Adobe and Corel rewrites Photoshop and Painter to werk with Tablet PCs out of the box (maybe they already do. I have not tried Photoshop CS and Painter 8.1 with any Tablet PCs).
The second problem is that Wacom's software are quite frankly, sh*t. Their drivers have always been crappy. This is far from a secret to those of us who've been using Wacom products for years. Edwood and I've been using the Cintiqs for years and getting it to work properly with out multi monitor set up has been shall we say "interesting" experience to say the least. So knowing that, I should have known better than to expect this special driver to work properly within the first 10 revisions.
I would like to ask anyone here that has Photoshop CS license to install it on their Tablet PCs and report whether CS is written to work with WXP:TPC's native drivers out of the box. I have yet to buy it, so hopefully someone here has it.
It just may be the case of us having to waiting for the application developers to get around rewriting their programs for the Tablet PC. I know that it's not that big of a deal to get a program to use both properly. Alias Sketchbook is a perfect example. Works great in both Tablet PCs and regular Wacom tablets. We just have to have patience I guess.

Hi,
Finially after a year, a great explanantion of why all those acom drivers (and revisions) failed to work on the 3500 and Photoshop. I presume it's the same (not working) with the new M200.
I use Photoshop extensively (Photoshop 7), and haven't yet switched over (upgraded) to Photoshop CS. I too would like to know if "CS" will work with either the 3500 or M200, straight out of the box. Thanks again or taking the time to explain things!.

It appears that photoshop is the only program with the features I need (plus I am just accustommed to it.) So I will need to deal with the driver problem.
JaKweeze suggested setting the waicom driver to work just in photoshop, but he did not know if it would work. So, would it work?
It looks like I will need to deal with the waicom drivers, so any suggestions from people who have learned to live with the problem would be helpful.

Well, unfortunately, every revision of the wacom driver I tried on Edwood's 3505 ended up screwing with the operations of other programs that came with the Tablet PC. As far as I'm concerned, installing the Wacom driver in conjunction with the one that's already in the operating system is just going to end up with bad juju. Well..... that's what I thought until......
It turns out that installing the Wacom driver byitself doesn't work either! [xx(][:O][}:)]:([cry][hothead]:([rofl]
You see, what I did was to take partition magic, made a new partition, and then moved the WXP:TPCE to the second one (D), and then installed Win 2000 in the first one (C), along with Photoshop 7 and Painter 7. I even found a Windows 2000 Wacom driver for the 3505 at Toshiba's support site! [:O] Apparently Toshiba expected some people to install WIn2K into their 3505s.
Anyways, to make a long story short, it worked for few hours, and then BAM! lost the pressure sensitivity in a middle of a Painter 7 session. No go in Photoshop either. The d@mn Wacom driver even alone in Win2K crapped itself out. Can you believe that crap? [hothead]
Wacom desperately need some better software engineers I say.

Shogmaster - Your post is very depressing. I have heard that the only answer with the waicom drivers is to use it in photoshop then "uninstall" it and use the regular driver at all other times. Hopefully some Tablet Photoshop Guru is out there and has found a minimally annoying way to get the waicom driver to work in order to use photoshop.

Until Wacom develops a new driver there is no way to enable pressure senitivity in photoshop and still have all the Tablet OS Features still work.

Is this an issue in PhotoShop alone, or in all art/graphic packages that allow pressure sensitivity?
eg:
Expression
Canvas
PaintShopPro
Painter
and so forth...

Like I've said, Painter falls under this problem as well as every other Wacom tablet enabled graphic programs that existed before the release of Tablet PCs.
The only programs that don't fall under this problem is the ones [u]expressely created</u> for operations under Tablet PCs and WinXP:TPCE, such as the Alias Sketchbook and Corel Graphigo.
