OK, the posts about what software do people think is essential led me to really take a look at what software I really use on my Tablet...SO, I wonder what are the top three applications that other people are using?...
I found that, over the course of one work week, the software that I actually use the most (in order) is:
1) Internet Explorer
2) One Note
3) Outlook (for e-mail)
What are your top 3...not musts, but those you really use in order?...
1. Outlook (email, schedule)
2. Journal (all my notes)
3. PowerPoint (Universal Translator)
3b. Crazy Browser - number 4 of three (an IE extension)
3c. Star Wars Galaxies - number 5 of 3 (because I'm a fool)

Interestingly enough, after two weeks, my user list remains the same:
1) Explorer
2) One Note
3) Outlook
I used MindManager once, for 10 minutes...now that was a worthwhile purchase...I haven't opened Tablet Planner since going back to Outlook...there's another wise purchase (not)...but I did use MS Reader and Zinio reader almost every day...but for minutes at a time.

2) MindManager
3) RoboForm (a great application for the TPC - stores your username, password, and other info so you don't have to retype them on web based forms)
4) Outlook
5) Slimbrowser - a very thin, fast browser that uses the IE engine. I find it much more functional than IE.

here are my favorites:
Outlook and MyIE for the web
Journal and Mindmanager for notes and To-do's
MS Reader and Adobe reader for e-books
and that accounts for 95% of the time I spend on the tablet, with is several hours a day.
off Topic?
I really tried One note. I even converted/pasted all my current notes from journal to One note. And came back...
I found One note clumsy, slow and counterintuitive: I spent most of my using time paying more attention to How I wrote than to What I wrote. Wich should be exactly reversed.
The writing boxes are a real pain: if I need squareness I go over to mind manager, for the rest of the time, I want free-form note taking.
It's not all bad, though : if only journal had tabs and multipage capacity !
I really hope they get it straight for the final version : it could be real great.
But for now I'll stick with Journal for notes.

Wow, i have Something Original to add!!
Try Microsoft Streets and Maps...it is insanely good with a tablet. As my tablet goes everywhere why not have a map of everywhere?
Its like Mapquest without the need for An Internet connection and is infact much better then MapgueSt with better graphics capabilitles and more content (like restaurants and hotels etc.)
Just back from a trip and used this alot to find my way around. So much so, i ordered a $100 USB GPS last night to add "You are Here" to the equation. The software is only $40
others
Tablet Planner
Mind Manager (that's my style of Note taking on paper )
Outlook 2003
Morella Firebird (because it has a 'mouse gestures" extension
Opera browser (not as good as Mz but more stable and has Moure Gestures too )

A note about Deluo GPS receivers... you can get them off Ebay for much cheaper:
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2 F&krd=1&from=R8&MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&query=deluo+gps
There's many other models as well. Best to look for the ones with no reserve, can grab them for $50-80 I think.

Trust me...GPS and Mapping software combined on the tablet is a total Blast, and for me now that i have it, its a must have for sure.
Nothing I here ever owned before puts me in So much awe of technology, while at the Sane time makes me feel like I'm starring in "Mission impossible"
Buy on ebay if you wish, but direct from Deluo cost only $6 USPS Priority and arrived in 2 days.

Bought Paperport 9.0!
Together with OneNote and Mindmanager and Alias Pro I am satisfied for my Tablet.
Besides that of course the standard software from uncle B., but that's standard indeed.

1. IE (sitting in bed reading the news)
2. Corel Grafigo (for writing)
3. Picture viewer (for sharing photos around a room)
I must say I was shocked to see Grafigo mentioned rarely in the messages posted here. Has ayone out there tried this free software? I love it's handwriting recognition, but then again I haven't tried much else.
One of the great things about a slate tablet is setting up a photo slide show, with all your holiday pics (or whatever) and handing it to Grandma. The little rocker button on the TC1000 allows you to move backwrds and forwards through the pictures. You don't even have to show her the pen.

I've got Grafigo installed on at least one of these machines here... but I don't use it much. It has some really good shape tools, but other than that I didn't see much in it that I would use on a regular basis. Like you say, it does have handwriting recognition, but this is the same recognition available in Journal and the TIP, so it doesn't have many advantages for me.

Wow. Agree about FranklinCovey's PlanPlus for Outlook. I predict this as a killer "sleeper" tablet application. Can you say seamless integration of note taking "INSIDE" Outlook 2003? I see that FranklinCovey has partnered with the same people that did TabletPlanner to create the upgrade of PlanPlus (Agilix). I've been playing with the beta. Franklin's calling the note taking stuff PowerNotes. Gives me a great tablet experience--things I loved about Journal are in there, like insert/remove space, insert images. Plus, if I'm at a place where I want to use my Toshiba 3505's keyboard, I get all the killer features of OneNote--change fonts; change size; change color; bullets; indents; selection, move, and order text; share your notes with right-click inside Outlook. If you're hot for the new Outlook 2003, wait till you see the integration. Very impressive. Since FranklinCovey has a trial of the 1.0 stuff, my guess is they'll have 2.0 posted too. Keep your eyes open.

So how is the match between Onenote and Powernotes going. I will have to pull the trigger soon and need some help. I think the <<folders>> and <<sections>> in OneNote could be pretty useful. Do they exist in PowerNotes also?
A feature I would like to see is <<linking>> capability like we can do in MS Word (where one can link to a bookmark within the document or to another document altogether. Does either Onenote or Powernotes habe this feature. I would guess not since I cannot find anything review about such a feature so far ... To me it would be a KILLER feature ...
