Any software to replace the default Tablet handwriting recognition?

I can't really get words right on that default Tablet program. Even the Transcriber on PPC is better.

You could try RitePen. It has some nifty functionality from what I have seen, but it isn't perfect either.

If you like Transcriber, try the original authors of Transcriber (licensed to Microsoft) at www.phatware.com. They have Pen Office for the Tabletpc or Calligrapher for the PPC.

I think the best thirdparty program for handwritiing recognition is like Cameron mentioned, ritePen. It's functionality is similar to the built-in WriteAnywhere feature, but it is a little more complete solution than that. Check out my review of it (with screenshots) here - http://www.tabletpcbuzz.com/features/article.asp?ID=16

That being said though, I have no problems with the built in recognizer. It is a thousand times better than Transcriber for me. Suprised to hear that it works that poorly for you. :-(

I also have some concern about recognition engine.

First, although the english one is fine, the Chinese character engine is rather poor. What's more, it is not listed in the Pen Input Panel ->Tools-> Option, Writing Anywhere engine list. Is there any means to enable this engine to write anywhere?

Second, the English TPC windows does not have Chinese character input item in Pen Input Panel. Even if I can install a third party recognition engine, I can not used it. How can add new items in pen input panel?

Currently there is no way to do this, although Microsoft is working on a solution to that problem. Until then you will have to purchase a Chinese Tablet PC to use Chinese input.
