Ok, so as my epic quest continues for the perfect convertible pc, it's occurred to me that I'm hitting a sort of decision making roadblock-- programmable keys on the slate screen. I don't see many/any threads about this, but this is, the more I think about it, a major issue for me as an artist, and since I'm working in the field, literally, I can't use an additional usb keyboard or do-hikky that connects in some way. I need it all on the computer.
As I've begun to look at the T900, T5150, and the T730 fujitsus or the X200t and x201t lenovos I can't tell- do these have any programmable keys onscreen? My le1700 does, and it actually has an interface through the dashboard that facilitates me doing it. I don't know how to use Autohotkey, and, frankly, with a 3 year old around, I just don't have the time anymore. So, are these buttons I see onscreen programmable?
Also, do they support having all four orientations for the screen in tablet mode? My thought is that I'd like to have the buttons on the left side or the bottom, so I can use the pen with my right and the buttons with my left hand simultaneously. This, however, requires that the screen be viewable in alternate orientations- like secondary landscape or secondary portrait.
If not, then it sort of pushes me directly into the more expensive multitouch screens, since essentially they do two things I regularly do with hotkeys right now- moving the canvas about, and zooming. With a pen that has a button or two, I could get most of the functions I want out of my current batch of le1700 hotkeys without really having hotkeys. Although, even 1 or 2 programmable buttons would be nice for undo's, etc.
What's the story on this?
Also, on these lenovo's and hp's and fujitsu's with multitouch and pen input- is the screen less accurate? I have been finding some threads in different forums that seem to imply as much, whereas pen accuracy is pretty dead-on with my le1700, except for the normal 1/8" drift or so on the edge of the screen.
