Heavy Photoshop/other graphics SW users: How bad is your worst experience on your 2740p?
My work involves using Adobe CS5 products (mainly Photoshop Extended CS5). The worst case scenario is that the file sizes exceed 150MB (largest was 1.6GB) and they have 50+ layers.
I've been using Photoshop CS5 with my desktop PC (core Quad Q6600, 8GB ram, ATI 4580 HD 512MB) and while I don't expect the 2740p to replace my workstation, I've grown to appreciate its snappy graphics performance and I'm a little worried about the Intel integrated graphics.
Now that Photoshop supports OpenGL and hardware graphics acceleration, I've found that it speeds up my workflow quite a bit. When handling large files, small things such as zooming is largely sped up by the hardware acceleration - some features even require it and are otherwise disabled.
I don't mind long loading times, but I hate stuttering UI graphics and the jumpy, unpredictable behavior that results from e.g. scrolling a large image file.
Will I experience the software stalling/stuttering because of the lack of a more powerful graphics chip? The 3DMark score for the 2740p hovers around 1900 while the 1600$ cheaper TM2 goes up to 3800 points.
Any info will is greatly appreciated... :)
