Let me disclose right at the outset that this is a self-serving, sales-related post designed to get people to buy Lenovo X201 Tablet PCs from our company. On the other hand, I think you will see that this is a pretty good deal for you as well.
The short story is that while Lenovo sells the X201 on their website as a BTO (Build to Order), they offer a few pre-configured bundles only through their resellers. If one of the bundles fits your needs, the savings is significant.
Here is one example:
Our TopSeller bundle 2985-C7U (https://www.alltp.com/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=4120&idcategory=6) has the following specs:
2.13GHZ CORE I7-640LM
12.1" WXGA MULTITOUCH DISPLAY
WINDOWS 7 32-BIT
4GB RAM
320GB, 7200RPM HD
2.0MP WEBCAM
8-CELL BATTERY
WWAN UPGRADEABLE
ULTRABASE W/DVD-RW
3 YEAR WARRANTY
The price on our website is $2,199.
If you configure the same unit on Lenovo's website, the price is $3,083. I did this configuration on March 11th, 2010:

Lenovo, even though they are a Chinese company, celebrates more American holidays than any U.S. based company I have seen. There are always deals for St. Patty's Day, Valentines' Day, and others. Also, they have electronic coupons which can be applied. Usually, these are 15%. Even with a 15% discount applied, your savings is still $421.55. Even better, if we ship it from our office, we are only required to collect sales tax if you are in Pennsylvania while Lenovo collects in most states.
If you want to see all the nitty-gritty details of what is included in this bundle, you can look at this page from Lenovo's website (http://www.alltp.com/images/ads/X201_bundles.pdf) that shows all the specifications of each bundle (including this one).
You can see all the bundles on our Tablet PC Store (http://www.alltp.com/shop/pc/viewCategories.asp?idCategory=6).
We cannot customize the bundles unless we do it as an after-market upgrade (like an SSD or more memory). Also, while we hope to have these in stock at some point, right now you can expect 3-4 week ETA for shipping.
If you have any questions, you can call us at 215-441-5580 x1.
