I've been "test-driving" an N-trig load on my XT2 that appears to offer reliable operation... but not the most advanced features.
I have migrated all of my platforms to Win7, so everything here is in that context.
Based on a tip from another user, I uninstalled the latest Dell update (XT2 MTM Version 2.254, A03) and instead installed a Vista version of an MTG N-trig software bundle (XT2 Version 1.152.026, 32-bit). Although this is a Vista version, it installs over Win7 without difficulty.
Because it is MTG (not MTM), I have pen, single-finger touch, and two-finger gestures (pinch, expand, rotate, scroll...). As an added bonus, this version also allows switching the digitizer mode from the N-trig window, so I finally have Auto mode back!
After a few days of use, I have not yet experienced any problems with this load, and I don't miss multi-touch because I don't have any applications (at the moment) that use it. I'm thinking that this is a combination that I can live with until some of the more significantly upgraded N-trig drivers are issued in a few months.
So if you just want reliable operation, and you can live without the latest bells and whistles, this is an option that you might consider. If you can't find the software bundle, I can help. Post here or PM me.
PS: If you have an XT, the software bundle would be Version 1.117.26, 32-bit.
