I am looking at the XT2 to replace my Motion M1400 Slate. I've yet to find specifics on the dock(s) available. Any info or directions to look is appreciated.
Also, I need to find out is if the XT2 can be put in the dock with the screen out. I hope to keep my set up similar to this photo below.
Thanks

Lon: The XT / XT2 utilizes a docking "media slice" rather than some fancy sort of articulated platform. I've never been interested in docking, but I'm sure that you can fully utilize the XT2 screen while the XT2 is docked...

Scroll about 2/3 of the way down to see a nice image of Dell's media slice...

I went to the Dell site and started putting a system together. When I chose this unit "media slice", it gave a warning stating that this conflicted w/ the OS I choose. It turns out the only OS that is compatible is the downgrade to XP!
That sure could be a show stopper. Any one know more about this?

Lon: I suggest that you get on the phone and call a Dell Sales Rep. In addition to being able to talk to them about this, the sales reps can sometimes pair you up with special deals that aren't visible on the order website. They also have access to options that aren't listed (like the DLV... DayLight Viewable... screen) and they can sometimes provide reduced-rate or free shipping.
In general, you'll at least as good if not a better deal by talking to a Sales Rep, and they can also get answers to your questions.
PS: The XT2 is classed as a business computer. Most businesses still use XP. That may explain this issue with the Media Slice and XP. But one would think that the OS wouldn't be an issue, here...

well here's a new issue: Looking at Dell's forums - I saw a few unresolved postings of hooking a external monitor up to the "media slice". I need to have a second monitor (see pic above) and that the 2nd one could be in a different orientation and not be a duplication of the tablets screen. Currently I use UltraMon with XP on the Motion set up.
