My HP tx2000 just kicked the bucket. And I'm looking for a replacement with a focus on art (ie. Photoshop, Illustrator, Artrage, etc.)

I'll miss the tx2000. I think it's the motherboard.:frusty: And as little as it might cost to fix it....I can't be sure it is fixable...and putting out the time and money to repair it is more costly in my book than buying a low cost replacement. By the way if anyone wants it please feel free to make an offer. Everything is in good condition (other than the obvious) no HD included.

With that explanation out of the way I'm looking for a comparable model. But I realize that I might be just as happy:whoo: with the following choices:

HP TC4200, TC4400
HP TC1100 1.2 gHz model
M1400, 1600

Feel free to make a suggestion!

Require/prefer the following:

Wacom digitizer
Smooth operation of Photoshop, Illustrator, Inkscape, GIMP, Artrage
Small/Lightweight (would prefer to hold it with one hand)
Durable
Cost $200-400
Linux (a plus, but not necessary)

My thoughts right now on each of my options:

I like the HP TC4200 and TC4000 because they are more "modern" CPU wise in comparison to the other options. My main concern with both is the durability and weight of both.

I'm not sure if I like the TC1100 for the novelty of it's production or if it just seems like it would be a flexible choice. Being able to detach and attach to a keyboard is a handy capability. My concern with it is on how easy it will be to upgrade the RAM, HD and wireless card. Since I would likely wish to do each of these. It seems a pain to do. Not to mention I'm worried about the longevity of the model since it's been out of production for awhile. Will it last me.

The LE1400 and 1600 seem low cost and I've read that the displays are beautiful and functional. My main misgiving is the lack of a keyboard. Though I have seen that there is an accessory that makes both similar to the TC1100.

I welcome your feedback!

It would also be a plus if Linux could easily be installed on each. I do know that the TC1100 has no problems with Linux.
