Well I took the plunge, downloaded the iso from microsoft and installed it on my tablet. I use an unconventional method because I can't be bothered to pull out my etheranet cable or buy an usb CD/DVD drive. I create a partion of about 5GB and extract the contents of the .iso to this partion. The partion takes on the role of the DVD. I run the setup and it installs Windows 7 as if it were reading from a DVD.
I did the same for Vista and both have worked a treat.
I found Windows 7 to be responsive, noticeably faster than Vista and love the layout. Handwriting recognistion is brilliant.
Love it. Vista should have been more like 7.
Used the mobile pc wiki guide for help with the drivers installation and using the driver fix, video works on my tablet.

Do any of the Aero effects work? Any chance of a screenshot of the Index score? Just curious.

Aero doesn't work, unfortunately but the basic scheme works and looks quite lovely. I took the jump yesterday and I'm very pleased with the results! I had it easy though, I've got the DVD combo drive in the docking station so just burned a DVD and went for it. Hope these help! Apparently I cant add pics yet, but I'll add it to my signature... lol

And just as a note, 512 ram is tolerable, but I'm definitely upgrading to 2gb soon! Everything functions fine though, and I even use OneNote, Streets and Trips 2010 and Media Player at the same time, no problems.

I just wish Windows 7 would let you change the colors of the basic scheme. I'd much prefer a dark theme instead of the light blue.

I don't think there's any way to get media center working under Windows 7 on the TC1100. Just too resource intenstive and the TC1100 doesn't have the video card power.
Aside from that, though, I've been really happy with Windows 7 on my TC1100. I don't think I'd want to try it with anything less than the maximum RAM but between Windows 7 and Office 2010 beta, the usability of the tablet is greatly improved!

Definetly agree with this. I love TC1100 with windows 7. It makes is perfect. I'm tempted to do some hardware upgrading soon. Messing around the hard drive and wireless, so should be fun.

I am just joining tab-buzz, but I also just installed Win 7 on my TC1100. I recently bought a used full spec (1.2Ghz, 1.5GB Ram, BT) TC1100 off ebay and other than upgrading the old Hitachi 60GB HDD to a newer WD 80GB 5400RPM drive have done nothing else but install WIn 7 on my tablet.
I do not have a direct comparision or benchmark, but I would say the device is at least 50-65% faster than before with windows xp Tablet edition installed.
Other than an issue with a specific program that will not run on Win 7, every single thing I throw at it seems to work. 720p video is choppy though, but we knew that.....
Love my TC!! :clap2:
