Has anyone converted their TPC fat files to NTFS and if so noted any differences?

on the Toshiba the File System is NTFS, so there wasn't anything to convert. As someone who has used NTFS since it came out in beta, I have yet to find a situation where a piece of software "knew" it was on NTFS and cared!
Plus with NTFS, you get better recovery from power losses, since the file system is transactional, and of course you get security which is always good these days.
Best of luck,

Thanks for the reply. It has been a long time since I have NOT used NTFS. I was thinking speed might be an issue and consequently was hesitant to convert. I think FAT is slightly faster but not sure.

Doc,
Have you converted your acer to NTFS? If so, please let me know if you expierenced any problems and performance loss/gain.

Not yet, but I intend too. Ok, works fine. Acer just sent it fat32 to make the option available to the end user......since it is irreversible.

I'm running NTFS on my Compaq. I'm not sure if it came that way or not, but I suspect it did. No issues.

Same here, and I'm sure I haven't converted it. If I remember right though the conversion to NTFS was something done during the initial setup process after taking it out of the box.

It makes sense that it would come formatted Fat32 because that leaves the irreversible "choice to the end user." I converted mine with no problems c:/fs:ntfs

That should be: convert <drive letter>: /FS:NTFS and answer Y when it says the drive is locked and do you want the conversion to take place at next boot.

Thanks, I forgot the "convert"[8] You may also need to know or rename your drive label.
