Has anyone tried the 'newer' larger 1.8" hard drives available in an LE1600?
ie: http://www.thenerds.net/TOSHIBA.Toshiba_MK1214GAH_Hard_Drive.HDD1901.html? affid=1&srccode=cii_9324560&cpncode=19-14332583-2&affid=3#reviews

Anyone foresee an issue with these larger capacity drives?

Thanx in advance,

As long as the drives are the same height and use the same connector there should be no problem.

Double check connector, there's older ATA style interface and newer zif types.

I'm assuming the LE1600 only uses the ZIF connector. Has anyone tried installing a HDD larger than 137GB or create partitions larger than 137GB? Would the LE1600 have any issues with a 160GB or the new 240GB ZIF drive Toshiba has released?

I have an LE1700 and it had an 80GB Toshiba 1.8" ZIF connector and drive. I secured a out-of-production Samsung HS-161JB 1.8" ZIF and that allowed for 160GB. I think that is as big as it gets (for ZIF and ATA-6 compatible). Toshiba makes a two-platter 240GB 1.8" ZIF drive but I think it is only compatible with Linux.

You can maximize the storage by using a PCMCIA CF card or a large SD card or a large USB Flash drive which are all cheaper than the ZIF hard drive or you can add it on!
