Hi,

I've been using my ST4110 for a year now. I've bought it to help me in my industrial design course.

although a good deal of my sketches are done on this tablet (via sketchbook pro) in the end i still have to go back to paper because i find that the tablet only is accurate enough when i use quick pen strokes. When I draw slowly there will be a bit (not a lot) of random movement of the pointer. I've got TIP tamer installed but it still happens.

Also, I think this problem is maximized by the fact that when i draw slowly the slippery screen surface has a stronger impact on the movement of the tip.

So I was wondering if anyone else have tips on how to improve my experience on the tablet. I've tried using a sheet of vegetal paper on top of the screen but of course the end is not ideal as I can't see the screen as well, and the plastic tip doesn't seem to like that rough finish of the paper...

I do have a "tip"....In fact, a Wacom felt tip for your stylus. They solve the "paper feel" problem pretty well. They are available thru the Wacom online store...don't have the url handy, but a search here or at GottaBeMobile should bear fruit - or poking around at the Wacom site itself. they come in sets of 5 and cost, I think, around $5 (it's been a while...I buy big bunches of them)

The down side of the felt tips is that they only last at best few weeks, depending on the heaviness of your hand. Eventually they go all squishy - just like real felt tip pens degrade.

Give 'em a shot.

Writeshield brand lcd protectors, although pricey, provide wonderful paper-like stylus touch along with primary incredibly tough protection against screen scratches. They're best protectors made and can be easily removed to use on another lcd later (with identical dimensions) lasting for years of use.

Combined with the felt nibs transforms into the stylus drawing interaction you seek.

I second Bruce's recommendation for WriteSHIELD. I use one on my XT and I find it provides a very smooth, but not slick, writing feel, especially with N-trig's "draggy" blue nib (similar to the Wacom felt nib).

You can find the information about Wacom felt nibs in this discussion thread:

thanks for your tips! :) I've just ordered the felt nibs, but unfortunately I'm not sure I can find the writeshield in any UK based online store... Would anyone know of one?
