Hello all, im an industrial designer. i do mainly machine and product design. i recently acquired a tc1000 and installed sketchbook pro on it the same day. I love it.

I am wondering if it is possible to control the canvas of SBP using a 3D controller. I use one for SolidWorks modeling and saves a lot of time. If anyone has made this work on their tablet please let me know!

177 views and no replies! wow i scared everyone?

anyways, ive been practicing with my tablet and learning how to use the stylus at different angles and speeds. i guess im out of the honeymoon stage with my tablet and now i am realizing it actually takes skill to get this right...

so i started tracing some images in SBP. I made a layer on top of the image and just started going wild, anyways, here are some of the pictures. Keep in mind these are my first drawRings ever on tablet and they are not finished!

quickie car sketch. first car in the tablet!

ok my second car, this one is more detailed but the perspective is off therefore i am not proud of this one. I realized this only after i had detailed a couple of areas. It is salvageable, just need to delete the whole front end and give it another shot.

my third one is a traced image of an airliner..

my fourth is a traced image of an FA18 Hornet aircraft. This one I drew first then came back later for detailing. I am now breaking up the sections in photoshop so I can try rendering this image on the TC1000!

I have a couple more doodles but nothing worth showing. I am doing a couple more traced images while I get acquainted with the tablet. Then I'm going to try out some new stuff.

So your using a TC1000, or a TC1100. I didn't know that the TC1000 had enough processing power...

yes a TC1000. I am using Autodesk Sketch Book Pro and the requirements for running it are:

System Requirements

Graphics card capable of 1024x768 display
256MB of RAM
Microsoft Windows® XP and Windows Vista® 800MHz CPU
Apple OS X 10.4, 10.5 G4, G5 or Intel based CPU*usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?id=6848332&siteID=123112

as far as processing power for the software, I can say that while running SBP only, the computer is completely stable. so far i have not had 1 single crash while using it for sketching. Alas, i dont use the tablet for anything else other than sketching... I use my desktop for everything else and any solid modeling gets done in a modeling station.

i'll tell you this, the computer is tiny and most people are impressed at how small it is, however the 10" screen is definitely not enough for me to get nice long swoops while drawing. many times i have to undo over and over cause i just cant get the image at the right angle to do a smooth controlled line.

I have been eyeballing the Wacom Cintiq lineup.

but I do believe the 21" is due for an overhaul so I'm going to wait on that one, perhaps a 24" with multi touch recognition.
